Which network should I join? Which remote turns on the TV? Where does the coffee go? Start your house instructions with the tasks guests actually need to do, and explain each in a few steps.
Keep Wi-Fi details easy to copy
Write the exact network name and password in separate fields. Check upper- and lowercase letters, spaces and punctuation against your current guest network. If your router offers several networks, make clear which one guests should use. Do not include the router’s administration password.
- Test the guest network from a guest-accessible room.
- Copy the password from the guide onto a second device to check it.
- Remove network details you no longer use after replacing a router.
- Decide whether the Wi-Fi password belongs in a printed or downloaded copy.
A simple instruction pattern
Fill in the pattern for the appliance in your property, following its instructions. “Press the round power button on the small remote” gives guests more to work with than “turn on the entertainment system.” If there is a delay before it responds, check it yourself before describing it.
Write one task at a time
Separate television, coffee machine and heating notes instead of putting them into one long paragraph. Give each task a short heading. Avoid naming every setting when guests only need one usual mode. If the full manufacturer guide is needed, link to the official instructions for the exact model.
Choose photos that identify the right thing
- Show the remote guests should pick up, close enough to distinguish it.
- Photograph a control panel in readable light.
- Add a caption explaining the action or the part to notice.
- Remove serial numbers, private account screens and unrelated personal details.
Keep troubleshooting within what you have checked
A guest guide is not a repair manual. Do not suggest electrical, gas or mechanical repairs, bypassing a safety device or resetting equipment without verified instructions. A short description of a known, safe user control is enough. For anything beyond normal operation, provide your confirmed contact method.
Update the guide when equipment changes
A replacement remote or coffee machine can make old instructions confusing. Note the sections affected when you change equipment, then update the guide and any printed copies. Saving a draft alone does not update the published guide.
A Wi-Fi information template for guests
Replace the placeholders and test the details on a second device. If coverage varies by room, describe only what you have checked. Do not promise internet speed or uninterrupted access based on the router’s advertised specification.
Does a guide QR code connect guests to Wi-Fi?
No. Welcome Book Builder’s QR code opens the online guest guide; it does not join a network. Guests need a working connection to open it. Keep a suitable Wi-Fi note available at the property so guests are not relying on the internet connection they are trying to set up.
